November 16, 2022: Bishop Michael Curry to Visit IAAM for Pre-Opening Sacred Blessing

The Most Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church, will travel to Charleston on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, to join the International African American Museum (IAAM) in its Call to Action to History, Healing, and Reconciliation.

In advance of the museum’s opening, which is set for the beginning of 2023, Bishop Curry will lead both a ceremonial service for community members at large and a smaller private blessing service on site.

The pre-opening ceremonial service will be held at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in N. Charleston. The intimate blessing of the waters and soil will take place at the sacred site on which the museum stands.

During the pre-opening ceremonial service, Bishop Curry will offer a message of hope and words of encouragement to people of all backgrounds and belief systems, to those in the community and beyond. Those interested in attending can sign up here: http://iaamuseum.org/iaam-bishop-curry.

The International African American museum is asking for all clergy of all denominations and faith traditions to join us for a clergy processional at 5:15 pm at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Please dress in your faith tradition clergy attire.
