Each year, the Family History Center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Charleston holds an all day fall workshop on family history research. This year’s workshop is today, Saturday, October 12, 2019.
The IAAM Center for Family History will present two classes – “Reconstruction Era Records for African American Genealogy” and “Documenting Enslaved Ancestors: Working in Antebellum Records.”
The FHC fall workshop is always free, and we invite our local friends to join us today at the Charleston Family History Center at 1519 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC, from 9:00am till 3:00pm.
For our friends who are not in Charleston or cannot join us today, we are posting our handouts here so you can download them. The handouts contain links to many helpful resources for researching African American genealogy during Reconstruction, and for tracing enslaved ancestors. You can save them in a handy place on your computer. Each time you open the handouts, you will have access to live links to all of the resources in the handout!
