James Bartlett has curated and overseen the exhibition design for over thirty shows, and is the former Executive Director of the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) in Brooklyn, New York. He served as Chief Curator in that position. Throughout James’s diverse career in media and the arts, he has developed new models for creative development that take into account the changing landscape of modern business, media, and technology.
James will be leading all curatorial affairs with a special focus on the museum’s media production and exhibition design, object acquisition, and department planning and protocols. He has a diverse background, including being the co-founder of Media MVMT, a film production house whose first feature film, “An Oversimplification of Her Beauty”, premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Bartlett also led MoCADA’s $6 million capital campaign for the construction of a new building, in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
James received his MS from New York University and his Global Executive MBA from Stanford University.
