Bernice Chu

Bernice Chu has extensive experience managing major construction projects for cultural institutions across the country including the Art Institute Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the New York Botanical Garden. Prior to taking a leadership role at the International African American Museum, Bernice was the Founding Director of the James Museum of Western Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Trained as an architect, Bernice spent more than twenty years in corporate construction and design fields before moving into the arena of directing capital projects for cultural institutions.

At the International African American Museum, Bernice will lead museum planning and operations.
