#IAAMmyHAIR: MIXER Event Recap.

placeholder image

On November 9th, we hosted the “IAAM My Hair: Mixer” event at the Charleston Maritime Center. Over 30 black women of all ages and hair textures came to learn about the purpose of the museum, connect with like-minded individuals, and learn about our upcoming “IAMM MY HAIR EMPOWERMENT SYMPOSIUM” while giving our team insights on what they would like to see at the symposium.

Fresh food was provided by local black women owned businesses Dellz Uptown and Addie Spann CateringThe energy in the room was palatable with many of the women providing their personal stories of what it means to live the natural hair life in today’s climate and what a symposium like this can do to galvanize their community. We were given great direction from the participants on things to add and what kind of experiences they would like to see curated during the “IAAM MY HAIR EMPOWERMENT SYMPOSIUM“.

Please join us on Facebook to keep up with us as we get ready to formally announce the symposium date, location, call for vendors, and panelist.
