Wisdom & Wordsmiths: Dinah Johnson

$5
Step into Wisdom & Wordsmiths, a dynamic reading and learning series that connects young readers with voices from the African Diaspora. This unique program offers students the chance to meet Dinah Johnson, the author of Indigo Dreaming. This beautiful book follows two young girls connected by culture, exploring themes of home, belonging, and the Black diaspora.

Children will discover the book’s celebration of identity and connection, and then they’ll learn how to visualize their own indigo dream, inspired by the story’s themes and their personal reflections on culture and heritage. Following the conversation with Dinah, students will also explore the profound significance of indigo, a rich color deeply rooted in history, tradition, and identity.

Led by Indigo Artist Nina Jameson, students will experience the magic of indigo dyeing through interactive storytelling, movement, and technique. Nina will guide them through the artistic process, blending history with creativity. This session will allow participants to express themselves through indigo while reflecting on the connections between art, culture, and community.

This program is made possible through the generous support of TD Bank.
