Jammin Journeys featuring Cultural Cadences (11am and 1pm)

  • Program

Music and the arts offer a gateway to discovering new cultures, fostering critical thinking, and expressing ideas with creativity. Through the Jammin Journeys program, youth and families are invited to embark on a journey exploring musical selections, instruments, creativity, and techniques spanning the Global African Diaspora.

Join us on October 5th for Jammin Journeys Feat. Cultural Cadences, a program presented in partnership between the IAAM, Charleston Gaillard Center, and MOJA Arts Festival.

Hosted by Charleston Gaillard Centers’ artist-in-residence, JaMeeka Holloway and Dr. Jessica Berry, Gullah Geechee & AAE language expert, Jammin Journeys Feat. Cultural Cadences promises an enchanting convergence of Gullah and Shakespearean poetry, and a talented performance showcasing the intricate rhythms and intersections between these diverse legacies. Join us at IAAM for an amazing performance and conversation where vibrant exploration meets historical contexts to shape rich tradition.
