Calvin R. Yarborough, Jr. b. 1882 in Louisburg, NC

Calvin R. Yarborough, Jr. was born March 4, 1882, in Louisburg, North Carolina. He was the tenth of eleven children born to Calvin, Sr. and Precilla Shaw Yarborough. Calvin was married twice – first to Toynetta Littlejohn, who bore his first four children (Frederick, Precilla, Vida, and Felix), before passing in 1914. He lost his son, Felix, that same year. In 1919, Calvin married Anna Beatrice Green, with whom he had 3 more children, Susie, Calvin III, and Arthur.

Calvin, who worked as a cotton handler for Arthur W. Person, was a member of the Pride of Louisburg Lodge, No. 180 (F.A.A.M.). He was also a second generation member of the Saint Paul United Presbyterian Church, Louisburg, of which his father, Calvin Sr. had been one of the founding trustees. Unfortunately, Calvin contracted tuberculosis, and died on January 31, 1929, when his youngest children were just 8, 5, and 4. He is buried in the Cemetery on the Hill, in Louisburg.
