Mrs. Mattie Rhodes died Monday morning at :30; aged about 22 years. She was a member of the First Baptist church, a lovely young woman, a devoted wife and daughter. Scarcely had she ripened into full womanhood before the fatal breath of disease had blown upon her and to-day we say, “Mattie is dead.” Not dead, only gone before to on wait the coming of loved ones, and where the bodily sufferings are over. To the husband and children, mother and all other relatives, we extend our heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement, and can only point them for comfort to “Him who doeth all things well.”
The funeral was held at the Second Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Worlds officiated, assisted by Rev. Leak. A large concourse of people attended the funeral. The Household of Ruth, of which she was a member, turned out.
