Thank you for joining this Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation for the inaugural collaboration between CHPP and the International African American Museum for the Preserving Land and Legacy Lunch and Learn.

The Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation, is a non-profit organization that was established in response to the overwhelming need to address heirs’ property issues, particularly in the Lowcountry where there has been an influx of development happening.

CHPP’s mission is to protect heirs’ property and promote the sustainable use of land to provide increased economic benefit to low-wealth landowners through our legal and forestry education and services.

As part of the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation Road to Twenty efforts, this chat aims to drive three key narratives:

(1) The importance of family coming together to ensure land is kept.
(2) Discuss what should be done if a family has identified their land as their heirs’ property
(3) Key things to know about wills, family trees, and obituary writing.

The Center for Family History has produced a PDF download that covers the main documents needed for Heirs’ Property Genealogy Research: https://tinyurl.com/CFHHeirsProperty
