Ancestry.com has launched a new collection of county marriage records for South Carolina. The collection, South Carolina, County Marriages, 1910-1990, currently contains records for ten counties. The table below lists the counties and date ranges for this new collection:
Marriage records help you pinpoint your ancestor in a certain place and time, and are useful for learning the maiden names of female ancestors. They typically contain the following information:

The content of the marriage records varies by county. For Lee County, documents include the marriage license application, marriage license and marriage certificate:
For Colleton County, the records include the marriage register only. You will need to order the marriage license and certificate to obtain all of the records concerning an individual marriage:
